Genuine Leather DIY BAG KIT Woman Crossbody Shoulder Bag 7 Colors Caramel

This was my second Sewingjoy bag and I love it! It's a super classy style and the color is between a gray and a taupe...very neutral to match with anything. I added a scarf that I had and I love how it coordinated. This one was a bit harder than the first one I made, but I like a challenge! The video is really helpful and the kit comes with everything you need. For this bag, I did order some inexpensive leather glue to help secure the threads...my previous bag I used a lighter to melt the threads but I was scared I would burn it so I tried the glue for this one and it worked really well. The leather quality is great, it feels like a high end designer bag. All of the holes match up, making it a perfect fit with the pieces. I'm happy to have added this bag to my collection and will definitely be getting more!

The kit came with plenty of thread, needles, and extra tools to stitch the bag. The tutorial was easy to follow, and the leather pieces were well made and stitched together with no issues. The leather quality of the finished purse is good, and I'm excited to wear it! Overall, a very fun experience.

The bag (pieces) came nicely sealed in a box. Honestly i did not read the instructions, but i pulled up the youtube video and followed along. The video is in Mandarin (i relied on that because I understand Mandarin), but it has trustworthy English subtitles. I was super impressed that there was an accessory kit with scissors, thread, rubber finger cover (use it!!), etc. i was surprised it did not come with glue, which is used in the video, but i’m glad i didn’t use it since I didn’t want the bag to smell like glue. The gold metal parts had a matte protective film over them, which you can peel off once you have assembled the bag. The feet of the bag has rubber covers, which you should also remove once done with assembly (or the bag will look tacky with rubber feet).Having read some reviews, I truly underestimated the length of time this bag would take me. I’ve always considered myself quite crafty, so I took on the challenge excitedly. But 1-2hrs in, I knew this would be a marathon, not a sprint! 😅 instead of getting this one in 2 days (as I had naively anticipated), the bag took me almost 3 weeks of part-time sewing (i have a full time demanding job and two demanding kids). So, you may have to reset your expectation (you may not finish the bag before that wedding coming up!). You might get it done in 3-5 days if sewing full time.All that said, I love this bag. It looks super elegant. All my hard labor poured into it definitely made it extra special. I have many genuine branded bags, but I’m eager to take this one out for a spin. 🩶🩶🩶

Upon placing my first order with Sewingjoy for the Kelly style bag, I was concerned that the leather wasn’t going to be good quality or the cuts would be slightly off which would cause the bag to come out poorly. Neither of these things ended up being the case. I spent 8 hours putting the bag together and I get so many compliments on the bag and love being able to tell people that I sewed the bag myself. I can’t attest to any other brand of DIY purse kits but Sewingjoy does it right.
